- 2015-2019 - Major east-west build up of military forces, late 2019 sees a Russian/Nato build up along the baltics and against the border of ukraine. Chinese naval and ground forces also begin to build up around Taiwan. Global nuclear forces go on alert. By fall 2019 military forces begin to disperse in anticipation as several skirmishes break out in the south china sea and along the borders of the baltic states.

The Imperium commander on the scene decides the current build up represents a high threat of the civilization ending itself before they can properly stage for a 'liberation. The admiral on the scene decides to go forward despite the lack of preparations for possible situations post liberation.
