The Lian System Incident occurs with a first contact in the far coreward of human occupied space; the Sinopact first contact with the Shil’vati goes poorly. For whatever reason the scouting elements of the Imperium are determined to have hostile intent and shots are fired. The Imperial Navy reacts with staged assets from nearby systems, beginning their conquest of the Sinopact and what they assume is humanity as a whole.
